As part of our overall goal to provide best practice
services reflective of the needs and desires of
our tenants, Women's Housing Company aims to generate
tenant involvement and participation through a
variety of options.
Some of these include:
- Annual surveys;
- A column in the quarterly newsletter titled
LINKS - linking the Women's Housing community;
- Tenant members on the Board of Directors;
- Annual General Meetings open to tenants and
applicants;
- Availability to meet applicants and tenants
personally to discuss issues and suggestions;
- Suggestion box in the foyer of our office.
The discussion forum as part of our website anticipates
the facilitation of contact and communication
opportunities for tenants overcoming issues such
as geographical distance, age, fragility and disability.
The forum is accessible to tenants only, a code
of conduct applies to ensure that the forum is
not misused in an inappropriate way.
Code of Conduct
The discussion forum is for communication among
and between tenants only.
The communication is strictly about tenant and/or
applicant issues, policies and processes. These
may relate to Women's Housing Company directly,
the wider social housing sector, and/or related
support needs.
The discussion forum is not to be used as a tool
for complaints or grievances, procedures as identified
in the tenant manual need to be followed for these.
Designated Women's Housing Company staff have
access to the information only to keep informed
and to monitor that the forum is not misused.
Women's Housing Company maintains the right not
to allow access to tenants to the discussion forum,
or subsequently ban tenants from the discussion
forum if misuse is expected or has occurred.
A tenant or a group of tenants may advocate on
behalf of another tenant to gain access to the
discussion forum, this is to be conducted in a
joint meeting with two Women's Housing Company
staff members. Such a meeting will only be approved
if the tenant being advocated for provides written
permission to Women's Housing Company to openly
disclose all concerns contributing to the decision
of the access rejection. The relevant tenant may
or may not be part of the joint meeting.
